Happy Licensed Professional Nurses

Whats an RN vs LPN ?

An Registered Nurse ( RN ) and a Licensed Professional Nurse ( LPN ) are both nurses with different responsibilities.

An LPN ( or LVN depending on what state ) is a nurse that generally went to a vocational school for 12 months or so. An LPN’s usually work under the supervision of an RN or a Doctor. LPN’s make somewhat less in wages and their scope of responsibility is limited.

An Rn usually has gone to school for 2 to 3 years and is encouraged to attain a bachelors degree. Since RN’s have a longer education time they receive more specific training. RN’s also can also specialize in various disciplines and generally have more responsibilities. Also RN’s make more money.

Becoming an LPN is a good stepping stone to becoming an RN.
