South Carolina is facing a huge shortage of nurses and its only going to get worse over the next few years.  In the rural areas its gotten to be an emergency. Who could say they didn’t see this coming years ago? Despite warnings of the problem for years and year no one has made a serious effort to glamorize the nursing profession. The closest thing that we have is medical shows.

Thankfully this has made an enviroment where no matter what the economy does if you’rr a nurse you’ll have work. Nursing is the original recession proof career.

Mercy Health Partners lpn layoffs in Michigan amounted to 31 LPN’s being cut in an effort to “save money” and improve the level of care. WTF are they thinking? While registered nurses are essential to patient care they are not the end all be all in nursing. Nursing staffs are short handed already and they think having less nurses on the floors is going to make things better for their patients?

They said they wll be hiring more RN’s but we’ll see how that plays out. RN’s are in even shorter supply than LPN’s and waymore expensive.
